AhlulBayt News Agency: Israeli political and security circles have been shaken by the unexpected dismissal of three senior officials known for their strong support of Israel from key positions in the White House and the National Security Council.
According to Yedioth Ahronoth, the decision was made recently by the administration of former US President Donald Trump.
The report suggests that the dismissals are linked to escalating tensions between Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, particularly concerning a potential military strike on Iran and the ongoing war in Gaza.
The three officials removed from their posts were identified as:
- Merav Sarn, a Haifa-born dual Israeli-American citizen who was recently appointed as head of the Iran and Israel division at the National Security Council.
- Eric Trager, who served as head of the Middle East and North Africa division.
- Morgan Ortagus, deputy to presidential envoy Steve Witkoff and US envoy to Lebanon.
Trump had previously warned Netanyahu against taking any actions that could jeopardize nuclear agreement negotiations between the United States and Iran. This warning was reportedly conveyed during a phone call last week, according to The Jerusalem Post, citing a senior White House official and another source familiar with the conversation.
